Bangladeshis living abroad who desire to see Bangladesh is free from poverty in ten years can open this current account in Grameen's Shovapur, Savar Branch. This money will be used to expand Grameen's microcredit programme to new areas. This is the opportunity for those Bangladeshis who want to do something worthwhile for the country but do not know how to do this. This token gesture will help enormously the economic development of Bangladesh.
  • The minimum equivalent US$ 150 with no limit on the maximum amount.
  • No interest given. The account holders will forgo only a small amount of interest in order to be associated with a gigantic task of nation building programme.
  • Money can be withdrawn only in Taka currency at any time by the account holder
  • The account may be opened for one year at the least but it is recommended to keep it for 7 years to achieve the intended objective.
  • The account holder can appoint nominee who will be able to withdraw this money in the event of death of the account holder.

  • Minimum amount to open the account: Tk 20,000 with no limit on maximum amount as long as they are multiples Tk 10,000 Tk.
  • This account can be opened for 5 or 10 year terms.
    1. In case of 5 years, for an investment of Tk 100,000, a monthly amount of Tk 800 is paid to the account holder.
    2. In case of 10 years, a monthly amount of Tk 850 is paid for the same account
  • The account holder can appoint nominee(s) to withdraw and act on their behalf
  • The account can be renewed after it matures. In the event no action is taken by the account holder, the account is automatically renewed.
  • In the event the account is withdrawn before it matures, the excess interest disbursed is adjusted with the following rates:

Bangladeshis living abroad can open a high interest account in any village branch of Grameen Bank which doubles in 7 years. Here are the highlights of the account:

  • Minimum amount to open the account: 1,000 Taka no limit on maximum amount
  • If necessary, the account holder can withdraw money even before the account has matured. In this case, an interest will be paid to the account holder with the following rates:
